Cosmopolitan Men! vs. FHM Search for the Girl Next Door 2005 Issues
Posted by Saucy Sexy on September 7th, 2005 filed in Sexy Gazing |
Cosmopolitan Men! Men! Men! Issue and the FHM Search for the Girl Next Door 2005 issues have finally been released this September. With its promise of bare flesh galore, the two magazines are enticing its readers to shell out more of their put away pesos to see it. The usual cost of Cosmopolitan is P120, but its September issue is P140, a P20 jump; while, FHM’s September issue climbed from P120 to P150, a whopping P30 increase.
Are they worth it?
Well, I bought both issues and my general assessment is—the gentlemen are going to revel and carouse more than the ladies.
Cosmopolitan 10 Centerfolds
Cosmo featured 10 males who appeared in various stages of undress, from William Devaughn defiantly holding his arms apart to show he’s got nothing to hide, to Dennis Trillo, Zanjoe Marudo and Victor Basa coyly hiding their private parts behind props, to low slung jean clad centerfolds Jay-R, Marc Abaya and Richard Gutierrez.

The Centerfolds concept was fun enough to be effectively sexy and yet still tongue in cheek, i.e., the men were posed with various tools as if they’re working around the house, such as gardening, painting, cleaning windows—A Desperate Housewives Fantasy.
Although it ought to have been appealing, I felt that the execution lacked the panache that takes a great concept to breathtaking reality. The lighting and composition was so insipid that Victor Basa’s page, for example, was bordering on the undesirable; or the humor of Dennis Trillo’s witty but naughty cover up of his genitalia with a bowl was lost. In fact, the mature Brit ladies from the movie Calendar Girls were more sexily photographed.

The only pictures that I liked, which featured enough technically proficient elements to make it interesting, were Marc Abaya’s aggressive stance as a garage person, which suddenly makes inhaling garage fumes akin to an aphrodisiac; while William Devaughn’s challenging sexy stare by the kitchen sink makes any kitchen task suddenly ripe with possibilities.

Better check out the insides of Cosmo magazine. Rodolfo Martinez’s pictures of men having good clean fun are way sexier, especially with that makes you want to melt smile of RJ with his intriguing backside curve. Hot!
Cosmopolitan 69 Bachelors
The Cosmopolitan 2005 Centerfolds were complemented by the presence of 69 (An allusion to the famous sexual position?) bachelors, albeit fully clothed, which makes the excitement factor go down meteorically fast. (Yeah, yeah, I know, it’s less socially acceptable for males to uncover themselves.) Accompanying the bachelors’ pictures were their statistics such as occupation, age, height, some quotes, and, oddly enough, their shoe size. (Is that an allusion to the myth that shoe size equals penis size?)

And till now, I am still contemplating the reasons behind the bewildering choice of two 17-year-old bachelors. I feel they’re the odd men out, because, legally, they’re not adults; so, there’s no other way to call them but jailbait. It makes me want to ask a Cosmo staffer regarding the magazine’s target market. (Yes, there is the fantasy factor, but whatever dream sequence one may have will ultimately be interrupted by an image of incarceration—a very non-sexy picture.)
By the way, FYI, although the law recognizes that turning 18 makes an individual an adult, one can still be charged with statutory rape by the individual’s parents if you’re an adult yet the person you’re involved with is still 18, 19 or 20. Therefore, to be totally free of legal entanglements, make sure you’re both consenting 21 years old and above individuals.
FHM Search for the Girl Next Door
It’s a very clear indication that I haven’t seen a FHM magazine in a long time because I didn’t know that the magazine has progressed from the arm across the breasts to hide the nipples poses to full bare-breasted nipple-baring poses and wicked girl’s front to girl’s front poses that fulfill the classic male lesbian fantasy.
The presence of overflowing bare skin in FHM makes me say that the gentlemen will have more fun than the ladies. Cosmo offered 10 centerfolds in a supplement, and 5 Man Manual and 1 Hunk of the Month in its magazine; FHM has 50 Search for the Girl Next Door photos in a supplement PLUS The Girls of FHM inside its magazine pages.

The sexy images of Bianca King and Ase Wang alone make this September 2005 issue one of its standouts with the excellent photography of Adam Watson and Thanaboon Somboon. Watson also elicited fantastic poses from Briana Blanco, Bianca Valerio, and the girls of Bora—Jaymee Joaquin, Joyce So and Mickey Joy Hyatt—a testament to his technical and interpersonal skills. One has to make his models feel safe and comfortable so that they’ll relax enough to emote that sultry look, and consequently produce those sizzling pics.
To Buy or Not To Buy
For the gentlemen who are still questioning the wisdom of plunking down P150 for the September FHM issue, my answer is a resounding, “YES, BUY IT!”
However, for the ladies, if you’re content with so-so pictures of 10 centerfolds and 69 fully clothed bachelors, then, by all means, shell out the necessary P140, especially if you’re happy to drool over one excellent picture. Or totally discount the bare skin factor, because Cosmopolitan is extra thick with more feature articles and ads.
