Diane Keaton Dating Keanu Reeves

I always thought Diane Keaton’s character should have chosen the doctor, played by Keanu Reeves, instead of Jack Nicholson’s character in the 2003 film Something’s Gotta Give. I felt there was more real emotion, i.e. love and commitment from the smitten young man than the questionable immature reactions of Jack’s character.

Last year, I heard the rumor that Diane and Keanu were going out but the Internet search engines could only turn up one article that confirmed it, which was not enough to make it seem real. However, while watching the promotion of the Ellen Degeneres show, I suddenly sat up straight when Ellen asked her guest Diane Keaton whether she was dating Keanu Reeves and she answered, “Yes.”

That out of the horse’s mouth answer sent me scrambling to find out more because heaven knows when that particular installment will be aired, since the Ellen Degeneres show is already running on replays, despite the fact that the cable channel etc 2nd AVENUE only opened recently (and if I remember correctly it’s been running for only a month or so).

The Internet produced the fact that that particular Ellen Degeneres show aired on 12 December 2005, and I’m guessing that Diane probably appeared on the show to promote the film The Family Stone, since it was to open nationally a few days later on 16 December 2005, plus Diane did say she was on her way to a premiere.

A CNN Transcript of the show’s beginning revealed Diane Keaton being her witty self when she commiserated with Ellen’s complaint about not being able to sit because of too tight clothes by admitting, “I’m wearing a black girdle, and it’s—because I can’t zip the damn thing up. I can’t get the damn thing all the way up. It’s pathetic.”

Later on, when she was asked directly about her dating status, she surprisingly disclosed , “I am dating him. We’re going to get married. He’s so sweet.”

However, she later recants and said, “No, I’m not with him, of course not…nobody’s attracted to me.”

According to a Yahoo news report, the 41 year old actor and the 59 year old actress have been seeing each other since the end of summer last year.

Whether it’s true or not, it need not necessarily end in marriage like the Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher affair, but I think Keanu will benefit so much from the relationship, given that Diane is such an accomplished and generous woman whose confidence, great body (she’s one of the few people who can appear nude like in the film Something’s Gotta Give yet be sexy and comic at the same time), down to earth attitude, humor and intelligence just make her so appealing (can you tell I don’t believe her nobody’s attracted to me statement?).
