Sexy Sniggers — Shagged and Hagged

During the second run of the Trumpets musical The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe, the head of Trumpets, Audie Gemora, secretly invited Douglas Gresham, the stepson of C.S. Lewis (the author of the Chronicles of Narnia) to visit.

We were all attending what we thought would be an ordinary company meeting when Mr. Gresham was suddenly brought in and introduced to the cast.

Delighted, everyone took pictures, like I did, to commemorate his stay. But I thought, a pun would work as well. Since my role was a hag, and I did hug him, I had the sentence, “I was hagged by Douglas Gresham” put on a shirt. I also gave the same shirt to my two fellow hags.

I unearthed that same shirt recently because I planned to wear it on the premiere of the Trumpets sponsored The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe for it was one of the few times people would immediately get the joke without an explanation.

Eyeing it with a wider knowledge that added years can bestow (i.e. having seen the Austin Powers movies), I belatedly realized that just by putting the letter S before hagged would put a whole new meaning to the whole thing, given that shagged is the English slang for fucked.
