Dr Phil — 5 Tough Relationship Questions
Posted by Saucy Sexy on February 9th, 2006 filed in Mixing Sexes |When I first saw Dr. Phil on Oprah I thought he was just so abrasive that I was taken aback, because his manner of talking and dealing with the guests were the total opposite of what my concept was of a person from the world of psychology.
It took me some time to realize that the abrasive style is just his way of “saying it the way I see it,” and underneath it all, there is a genuine concern to help.
His guest appearances on Oprah became so popular that Oprah produced his own show simply called Dr. Phil. Recently, on the show, I saw a couple whose relationship had been clouded by so much deceit that Dr. Phil exclaimed, “Do you two know each other?”
If you have any misgivings about your current relationship, you might want to ask yourself Dr. Phil’s 5 tough questions. It is for your own personal enlightenment, and he strongly suggests that you do not show them to your partner. Rather, you use the answers to help you identify what are the obstacles in your relationship, and then decide on how you can improve the situation.
1. Considering that at least one definition of love is that the security and well-being of your partner is as significant to you as your own security and well-being, then would you say that, based on results, you behave in a way that reflects that you are in love with your partner? Why?
2. Using that same definition, is your partner in love with you? Why?
3. Knowing what you now do about your relationship, would you still get involved with the same person if you had to do it all over again? Why?
4. When comparing yourself to other people in relationships, do you feel that you have been cheated or have settled too cheap? Why?
5. If you could break off your relationship or get a divorce from your partner right now without any inconvenience, legal costs, or embarrassment, without any undue hardship on your children (if you have any), would you do it? Why?
