An Accidental Report of Sexual Abuse on the Cosmopolitan Philippines Fun Fearless Forum
Posted by Saucy Sexy on April 22nd, 2006 filed in Sexy News Alert |A Question on Validity
However, since it happened when she was in Grade 5, there was a concern whether it was still valid legally, which made me offer to find out the legal details.
The question re the validity of the case based on timing is an excellent one. I saw in Oprah the class action suit that was brought against the priests by the boys they molested, many of whom are adults in their late 20s and 30s, so definitely the event happened at least 10 years past.
Of course, the laws might be different here in the Philippines. Let me ask a couple of lawyers and I’ll post next week.
However, the sad thing about this is the fact that even though it may have happened several years ago, the negative effects of the incident may continue. According to Wikepedia, “The majority of experts believe that CSA {child sexual abuse} is innately harmful to minors.
“A wide range of psychological, emotional, physical, and social effects has been attributed to child sexual abuse, including anxiety, depression, obsession, compulsion, grief, post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms such as flashbacks, emotional numbing, pseudo-maturity symptoms, and other more general dysfunctions such as sexual dysfunction, social dysfunction, dysfunction of relationships, poor education and employment records, eating disorders, self-mutilation, and a range of physical symptoms common to some other forms of PTSD, such as sensual numbness, and loss of appetite (see Smith et al., 1995). Additionally, young females who are victims of abuse may encounter additional trauma by pregnancy and birth complications.”

Maybe when you have the time you can add the chapter, section etc. of the definition of statutory rape.
