Sexy Sniggers — Get Nailed Here
Posted by Saucy Sexy on July 13th, 2006 filed in Sexy Sniggers |
Walking along Annapolis St. in Greenhills had me stopping in my tracks as I spotted a tarpaulin announcing “Get Nailed Here” with contact numbers under it.
Chortling, I texted everybody I knew with a Globe number since I was on UNLIMITXT at that time. Predictably, everyone replied with versions of laughter.
Except for one.
“I’m not sure what that means exactly…”
Exasperatedly, I replied, “Yeah right!”
However, thinking about it, and relating it to my own experiences of ignorance with certain situations, I decided to text again, “Okay, under the assumption that you were serious about not understanding my SMS… The source of amusement of “Get Nailed Here” is the word nailed, which is an American slang word for doing the sexual act, as in ‘boy nailed girl.’ So to use it in an advertising slogan is funny, assuming they don’t know what it really means, like when the Chinese or Japanese unintentionally use English words in the wrong context.”
I got this reply, “I KNOW what it means. I just couldn’t believe that someone would advertise for sex like that.”
I teased, “Oh, I’m so sorry. Such an indignant tone. Did I offend your vast knowledge of sexual terms? Don’t worry, from now on, whenever I don’t understand a sexual term, you’ll be the first person I’ll ask.”
His reply, “Hahaha…”

Since I wasn’t able to take a pic of the sign the first time around, I went back to do so. Across the street from where the sign was hanging was a nail salon so I went inside and asked whether the tarp was theirs. The nail technician said no, but remembered that it belonged to the advertising company that was in charge of the signs.
My curiosity got the better of me so I called the number. Indeed, the number is that of Eastwind Trading Corp., which hangs tarps for a minimum of 10 spots for Php 25,000/mo.
Now that I know that the phrase was deliberately done, and not out of ignorance, it doesn’t seem so funny anymore
As for the female’s small picture underneath, I have no idea whether she’s riding on the sign as a means of advertising her services, or she just stuck her pic there for I don’t know what reason, or somebody’s playing a joke on her… Whatever…

So I suppose they meant ‘nailed’ as ‘hung.’

Yup-yup. But if you notice, using the word ‘hung’ would still create the same effect as ‘nailed’ because it has its own sexual implications.
