Sniggers — Eating Cameron Diaz

Then Kate Winslet continues to narrate how, during an interview, both she and Cameron Diaz were asked what surprised them about the other, and Cameron Diaz said something lovely about her.
When it was her turn, Kate Winslet wanted to emphasize Cameron Diaz’s ability to eat huge amounts so she modified a popular English saying by declaring that there is no possible way that “I can eat her under the table.”
That led even the usually deadpan David Letterman to chuckle appreciatively.
In some bizarre coincidence, Cameron Diaz was in the Jay Leno show to promote the same film, and she was telling him how she loves to watch live games while eating a lot of hotdogs and drinking cups of beer, which led Jay Leno to comment that maybe some guys can “eat her under the table.”
That led the audience to heckle and to have a laugh at Jay Leno’s expense. To recover from his faux pas, Jay Leno shushed them and reminded the audience that Cameron Diaz’s parents were in the audience.

Most likely Jay Leno had already heard about the “eat under the table” comment by Kate since the Leno and Letterman shows are taped on different days.
