Closeup Lovapalooza Tries to Reclaim Guinness World Record

6pm on 10 February 2007 at the SM Mall of Asia North Open Lot will be the scene of, optimistically, more than 5,700 couples, the number that needs to be broken in order to reclaim the Guinness World Record that was captured by the Philippines in 2004 for most number of couples kissing at the same time.

Although I have not been able to read any confirmation about this, the fact that real and reel life couples will be attending the event makes me assume that they will also join lips to support this worthwhile endeavor.

According to a newspaper ad on 04 February 2007, the couples are ABS-CBN stars Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo as well as John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, popular singers Nina and Nyoy Volante with Christian Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go, and hosts Iya Villania and Drew Arellano. Heartthrob bachelors Sam Milby and Luis Manzano may need partners though…

To warm up the crowd, there will be performances by all the rage bands like Rivermaya, Orange and Lemons, Rocksteddy, Itchy Worms, Sugarfree and Sandwich.

Dress Code Please note that you have to wear something RED so that you’ll be allowed to enter the Kissing Pit.

And remember that the North Open Lot faces the Manila Bay, plus it’s going to be under the stars, so remember to bring a jacket or something to keep yourself warm just in case.

For security reasons, backpacks and big bags will NOT be allowed as well.

How To Join First and foremost, you have to be an adult under Philippine law, so you and your partner have to be 18yo and above. Better bring an ID stating your birthday, e.g. driver’s license, or an ID and a copy of your birth certificate just in case.

Why Join the Closeup Lovapalooza as a Kissing Couple The Closeup Lovapalooza is an excellent excuse to kiss in public, since it’s a no-no in Philippine society for kisses that last longer than a smack.

If you don’t have a current partner, again, it’s an excellent excuse to do something physical with another person.

Then, it’s a fun activity for you and your partner to celebrate your relationship, a pre-Valentine event, so to speak.
