Kris Aquino vs the Other Woman

“How dare she say sorry to me,” a furious Kris Aquino told Korina Sanchez on ABS-CBN program Rated K on 25 February 2007, referring to the fact that the woman who has been linked to her husband James Yap apologized for hurting her.

The anger was mainly fueled by the fact that 7 months pregnant Kris Aquino felt that her baby’s life was endangered when she had to be rushed to Makati Medical Center for high blood sugar and premature labor pains due to the stress of knowing that the other woman gave an exclusive interview that was due to air, specifically, on rival channel GMA-7 shows Star Talk and S-Files.

Boy Abunda, on another ABS-CBN show The Buzz, reported that Kris Aquino gave a statement that it would have been okay if she hadn’t been pregnant, because the fight would have been “patas lang (fair).” But when the innocent life of her child was brought into the fray, she felt that was uncalled for.

Without mentioning directly GMA-7, Kris Aquino also expressed her disappointment how people were so quick to take “advantage of the situation.” Kris felt that they wanted to bring her down because of the success of her ABS-CBN shows.

“Not once was there an insinuation of a venue, a woman, an affair…” During an earlier The Buzz interview, Kris Aquino admitted there was a problem in her marriage, an interview which Kris pointed out to on 25 February 2007 as totally being ambiguous because there was no reference to specifics. “Not once was there an insinuation of a venue, a woman, an affair… Ni minsan hindi namin siya binaggit (not once did I mention her).”

Only close family members and friends knew the real story at that point.

Kris Aquino labeled the other woman’s decision to go public as “gusto n’yang manggulo (she wants to cause trouble),” and baldly stated regarding the situation, “Nasaktan talaga ako (I got really hurt)… this is one of the saddest moments of my life.”

“Kasalanan ko lahat ito (all of this is my fault).” James Yap admitted that he was totally at fault for the situation, and regarding the other woman’s interview said, “Gusto ko siyang kasuhan (I want to sue her).”

James Yap continued to deny that the other woman had basis to say that she might be pregnant, divulging that although the other woman would enter his treatment room repeatedly during his weekly Monday appointments at the Belo Medical Center, he would always tell her to leave.

“Forgiveness is a process.” When Korina Sanchez asked Kris Aquino whether she has forgiven James Yap, her reply was, “Forgiveness is a process.” Kris also confessed that she can’t say, “I love you,” and that she had told James Yap to leave.

However, James Yap found himself deciding to stay because of his love for his wife. And when Korina questioned his decision, James Yap emphatically said, “‘Di ko papalitan ang isip ko dahil mahal na mahal ko siya (I won’t change my mind because I love her very much).”

“We’re holding on because we have a family.” Protecting her family is apparent as one of Kris Aquino’s priorities, and serves as a major motivation to stay together with her husband James Yap.
