Sniggers — Gentlemen Only Please

Having just attended the Body Jam 40 launch at Fitness First Greenhills on 14 April 2007, I rushed to my show at SM The Block, and, in the interim, passed by Fitness First SM North EDSA where Body Jam Choreographer Gandalf “G” Archer’s images graced the walls on the way to the interiors of the locker room.

Mentally telling G how much I enjoyed Body Jam 40, especially the heart pumping jive with the song CandyMan by Christina Aguilera, my state of pleasant retrospection came to an abrupt halt as I saw a male client cross the locker room area.

Horrified that there was a male inside the female locker room, my mind scrambled frantically on what to do, and then came to an even more appalling realization…

I had unwittingly walked to the male locker room and stood at its threshold! I immediately rushed to the other side where the female lockers are.

In retrospect, thank God a male client had walked across, otherwise I might have gone in even further before I realized my mistake.

And, thankfully, no one was near the entrance in a state of undress, and no one was behind me to witness my mortification. And, hopefully, the gentleman who ambled across did not notice me.

Note: Fitness First locker rooms are located differently in each branch, with some entrances beside each other, but the orientation may be different, like Fitness First Greenhills and Fitness First Metro East have the female locker entrances on the left side while Fitness First ABS-CBN and Fitness First North EDSA are on the right side.

Some are on different levels altogether, such as Fitness First Alabang and Fitness First Manila have the female locker rooms on the lower level while the male locker rooms are on the second floor.

I must remember that a certain level of concentration is required given that the layouts are different for each Fitness First branch, and I’m one of the few who actually take advantage of the fact that, as a Fitness First passport holder, I have access to all the Fitness First’s current 15 branches.
