Plot Summary of 14 May 2007 Episode Aired on ABS-CBN Manila Philippines

Teasing at the Church Jackie pointedly ignores Eli during the Catholic Mass, especially during the part where people are supposed to greet each other by saying “Peace.”

Under his breath, Eli teases her that God is getting angry with her for not forgiving him for his faux pas of giving the same necklace to her, Ate Guada and Celine.

Jackie is tickled pink and tries to hide it, but in the end gives him a friendly slap to the face.

Celine Stays in the Islands During a walk by the beach, Celine informs Jackie that she has decided to stay and continue her work with the women in the islands. Consequently, she will not return to the United States with her.

Jackie’s Despedida Eli gives a despedida for Jackie’s return to Manila, during which Celine catches him staring at Jackie while she’s conversing with his employees.

Celine observes that he’s still obviously in love with her cousin and then gently chides him for letting his love go, “Sayang dahil pinabayaan pa nating makawala (It’s a shame you’re letting your love slip away from you).”

Despite Celine’s admonition, when he finally gets her alone, Eli stiltedly tells Jackie that he won’t be going back with her to Manila, even though Jackie reminds him that his mother is expecting a visit from him.

Eli responds that he’ll visit his mother next week, at which point Jackie discloses that she’ll be in the States by then.

That night, Eli is torn by his thoughts, then nobly decides that Jackie will be better off with another man who can love her the way she deserves.

Jackie and Eli Say Goodbye In the light of day, while saying their goodbyes, Jackie gives Eli a chance to reveal his real emotions by asking him several pointed questions, like how did he feel when they danced during the baile, why did he kiss her so passionately, and why did he catch the fish that reminded him of her?

Eli lamely replies that he did all those so that she would enjoy her vacation, to which Jackie sarcastically replies that he’d better enjoy his life on the island, and then storms off with tears streaming down her face.
