How to Say No to a Lesbian

As I gave an account of another girl coming on to me, my friend, who happened to be female, said, “I don’t know what I’ll do if a girl ever approaches me. I wouldn’t know how to handle it.”

I shrugged and said, “You treat the situation the same way when handling a guy. You give out exactly the same signals.”

She blurted out, “How come I don’t have this kind of experiences and you do?” Then she trailed off, realizing the homophobic implication and possible insult.

I didn’t take offence and gave my theory, “I think people can tell that I believe in treating people equally. It doesn’t matter if you’re a boy or a girl, male or female, you’ll get treated the same way. Lesbians don’t have to be treated in a special way. They’re just people.”
