Incest, rape (sleeping beauty), lots of murder of course. I like the old versions :) the gore is far more interesting than the disney coverups. And then modern retakes of fairy tales like Robin McKinley's versions of Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, et al, plus the dark edgy stories of Angela Carter make you take a second look at the tales.
