LA Judge’s Website Reveals Sexually Explicit Content

A Judge on the Defensive
Chief judge of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Alex Kozinski found himself on the defensive as the prosecutor of an obscenity trial that he’s supposed to preside over pointed out the existence of “a potential conflict of interest concerning the court having a . . . sexually explicit website with similar material to what is on trial here,” LA Times reported.

A Possible US Supreme Court Judge
LA Times stated that “Kozinski is one of the nation’s highest-ranking judges and has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the U.S. Supreme Court. He was named chief judge of the 9th Circuit last year and is considered a judicial conservative on most issues.”

The Possible Non-Nomination
Judge Alex Kozinski is possibly concerned of the non-fruition of the Supreme Court nomination, which can be the highlight of a prestigious judicial career.

If ever, his non-nomination is not because he has sexually explicit content on his website, but, rather, what some of his image choices might suggest of his private opinions and beliefs. For example, one of the images that can be found on his site is “a photo of naked women on all fours painted to look like cows,” which, might put to question his attitude towards women, which, in turn, might put into doubt his ability to uphold the rights of equality among the sexes.

The controversial situation reminds me of a West Wing episode entitled, ‘The Short List,’ where a judge was going to receive the nomination for the US Supreme Court, until further investigation revealed he was integrally against the First Amendment (if I’m not mistaken).

Spinning the Situation
Judge Alex Kozinski’s camp has been attempting to manage the volatile situation by releasing possible reasons for the judge’s sexually explicit content such as his ignorance of the fact that the public can access his site, or he incorrectly uploaded some files, or it was his son who uploaded some of the offensive images without his knowledge.
