Pinup Queen Bettie Page Passes Away at 85

Playboy magnate Hugh Hefner said this of the Playmate of the Month in January 1955 and pinup queen of the 50s, “[Bettie Page is] a combination of wholesome innocence and fetish-oriented poses that is at once retro and very modern.”

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Bettie Page was quoted to say, “I want to be remembered as the woman who changed people’s perspectives concerning nudity in its natural form.”

Bettie Page was hospitalized for pneumonia before suffering a heart attack, and then passed away nine days later at the age of 85.
