GMA 7 Star Marian Rivera Cries But Determined Not to Get Pregnant

Sexy star and GMA 7 mainstay Marian Rivera got emotional after baldly pronouncing, “Hindi po ako buntis (I am not pregnant).”

The Desperadas 2 actress admitted during the press con for her Metro Manila filmfest entry that the ex-girlfriend of her screen and TV partner Dingdong Dantes, Karylle, caused her to be upset, “Na-offend talaga ako. Inaamin ko, na-hurt ako. Na-hurt ako sa kanya [Karylle] dahil kung ako ang tatanungin ng ganoong katanungan, ang isasagot ko, ‘Wala po akong alam diyan’ o ‘Wala po ako sa posisyon na sumagot diyan.’ Nagkaroon ng malisya ang pag smile-smile niya. (I was really offended. I have to admit that I was really hurt. I felt hurt by her actions, because, if I had been in her position, my immediate reply would have been, ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I’m not in any position to reply to that question.’ By merely smiling, she put malice into it.)

Marian was referring to a portion of The Buzz show wherein Karylle was asked by host Boy Abunda regarding whether she thinks Marian Rivera, the alleged cause of her breakup with boyfriend Dingdong Dantes, was pregnant. Although the former Kapuso star did not say anything, she did smile.

Marian Rivera also assured her fans that her focus is on her career and she’s making sure she doesn’t get pregnant, “Hindi naman ako tanga at lalong hindi na ako bata para magkamali ng ganoon na magpabuntis. Marami pa akong gustong mangyari sa career ko. (I’m not stupid, and, I’m not young and foolish to make the mistake of getting pregnant. I still want to achieve a lot of things in my career.”

Philippine Star columnist Ricky Lo got a statement from Kapamilya star Karylle, “If there were any misinterpretations of my smile, I clarified it (yesterday) morning when I guested on Boy & Kris. Tito Boy (Abunda) even apologized for asking me (that question). Tita Kris said kasi that it was politically incorrect for him to ask me. I just explained that no matter what I would answer or however my face would react, it would mean something.

“Parang I was in a no-win situation. If I didn’t smile, people would say I was bitter. I was actually trying to figure out what to answer and how to phrase it properly. And then, si Tito Boy suddenly said ‘Thank you!’ and ended the interview.”
