I hated this ad when I first saw it. The very unsubtle sexual references, such as the Lolita come hither look or the huge Oh Lola perfume bottle with the rose stopper pressing on the apex of Dakota Fanning’s thighs, are just vulgar. I am wondering where her mom was during the Marc Jacobs shoot since Dakota was only seventeen when this was executed.

I thought the Oh Lola perfume image is a disservice to the impeccable reputation of actress Dakota Fanning, who has blown critics away with her performances ever since she co-starred as a child with Sean Penn in the film I Am Sam.

Recently, I was relieved to learn that the Advertising Standards Authority of the UK has deemed the Marc Jacobs ad for its Oh Lola perfume quite inappropriate because it resonates with themes of child pornography. Celebitchy reports.

The Advertising Standards Authority or ASA said that the way the perfume bottle rested in Fanning’s lap was “sexually provocative” and considered that the actress actually looked to be under the age of 16.

“We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality,” the ASA said.

“Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualise a child. We therefore concluded that the ad was irresponsible and was likely to cause serious offence.”

The Advertising Standards Authority banned the ad in its first ruling since a Downing Street summit in early October.
